How do I know if I have access to this article?

If you have access to this article via a subscription to the journal or book you will see an orange S icon next to the abstract.  If you have a personal subscription to the publication but do not see the S icon you may need to sign in.  If you have a subscription but have not set up access on IngentaConnect you will need to register and request access. Some articles are freely available as samples and are labelled with an F icon.


How do I view an article?

If you have access to the article you can access the full text by clicking on the PDF or HTML delivery buttons (HTML is not always available). 
To view PDF files you will need Adobe Reader, which is free and can be downloaded here. If you already have Adobe Reader installed, please note that to view some PDFs you will need to have version 5.0 or higher.


How do I purchase this article?

If you do not have subscription access and this publication allows pay-per-view access to full text, a price will show beneath the abstract.  This price is approximate if you are not registered or signed in, and is subject to change according to your local currency or tax rules.  To purchase the article click on Add to Cart .  At this point you will be asked to register or sign in, and the item will be placed in your shopping cart.  You can then choose to purchase the article or continue using the site and return to your cart to complete the transaction at a later time. 


I should have access to this article but don't - why?

What is?

Mark Item allows you to add this article to your Marked List. To make best use of this feature you should sign in or register so that you can return to your Marked List on another occassion.  If you do not sign in your Marked List will only last as long as your current session.

Language tells you the language of the full text.

Document Type is the classification that the publisher has given to the article.  It tells you whether the article is a research article, editorial, letter, etc.

ISSN stands for International Standard Serial Number.  It is an eight digit number which identifies periodical publications.

ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number and identifies books. Old-style ISBN are 10 digits; new-style ISBN (from 2005 onwards) are 13 digits.

DOI stands for Digital Object Identifier and is "a system for identifying and exchanging intellectual property in the digital environment". It is a unique and persistent number assigned to electronic journal articles, books, images or other types of content.  For more information about DOIs visit the DOI Foundation website.

Affiliations tell you more about the author(s) of the paper and the organisation to which they belong.
